Brachioplasty refers to the operation which provides an arm lift to remove redundant skin from the inner aspect of the arms. It is an operation that surgically removes hanging skin, resulting in a scar which runs on the inner aspect of the upper arm.
It is commonly combined with liposuction with aims to reduce the width of the arms as well as other body contouring procedures usually in patients who have had massive weight loss. The arm lift may also be extended to remove other areas of excess skin which run into the armpit such as the outer aspect of the breast or upper back. It can be done as a day case in an accredited hospital.
It is important to remember, any invasive procedure carries risks and individual results may vary depending on factors, not limited to but including age, genetics, diet, lifestyle and existing medical conditions. Before any surgery, we recommend you consult a qualified health practitioner who should discuss with you at length these risks including possible complications and recovery/aftercare instructions specific to your procedure. If unsure, always seek a second opinion from a specialist plastic surgeon.
